SELBY/ARTISTS MGMT is a full-service arts management firm led by Margaret Selby, representing a curated, award-winning roster of the most influential voices in dance, physical theater, as well as world and orchestral music. The roster features dance luminaries such as Camille A. Margaret Selby - Bio

With a skill for cultivating exceptional talent, Margaret Selby manages the careers of leading choreographers, dance companies, and theatrical events, supporting performances and touring around the world .Drawing upon a lifelong passion for dance, theatre, music, and film - alongside an in-depth workinf knowledge of creative development - Selby maintains a keen eye on today's performance landscape and the strategic care needed for artists to thrive in a shifting global market. 

Her distinguished roster features some of the most vital names in contemporary movement, including Herve Koubi, Camille A. Brown, David Parsons, and organizations like Ballets Jazz Montreal and Alonzo King LINES Ballet. For her artists, she aggressively pursues new oppportunities in the digital and commercial spaces, having successfully managed engagements for corporate meetings and global advertising campaigns.

Professional Affiliations & Current Projects

Margaret is an active member of APAP (Association of Performing Arts Professionals), ISPA (International Society for the Performing Arts), Midwest Arts XPO, Western Arts Alliance, Dance USA, and the Broadway League. She is currently involved in producing a major project with the David Bowie estate and continues her long standing work with the hit production Fela! following its successful Broadway run and international tours. Her management of Compagnie Herve KOUBI has seen the company achieve signifcant acclaim across North America with works like Sol Invictus and What the Day Owes to the Night.  

Film & Award-Winning Productions

As an award-winning filmmaker, Margaret produced and directed Everybody Dance Now, which earned a Peabody Award and a Bronze Rose at the Rose d'Or. Her special, Two by Dove, for Dance in America, won two Emmy Awards for Outstanding Cultural Program and Outstanding Individual Achievement in Choreography in Theater. Selby produced the first hip-hop musical on Broadway, Jam on the Groovewith the Rock Steady Crew, which earned a Drama Desk nomination and universal critical acclaim. She also produced and directed the documentary Chuck Jones: Extremes and In-Betweens- A Life in Animation. For this project, she secured the financing and featured icons such as Robin Williams, Whoopi Goldberg, Steven Speilberg, John Lasseter, Ron Howard, and Matt Groening. 

Television & Career History

Margaret's extensive backgriound in television includes work on live specials series such as the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and the Daytime Emmys for NBC and CBS. Her production credits span projects for A&E, Lifetime, Warner Brothers, SONY, BBC, USA Networks, and The Children's Television Network (now Sesame Workshop). Additionally, she dedicated eight years to the presitigious Great Performances: Dance in America series on PBS.

Our Staff

  • Ianthe Demos (Executive Vice President) has worked with Margaret Selby since 2001, producing, company managing and booking touring dates for Selby Artists Mgmt LLC’s incredible roster of artists. In addition to supporting Selby/Artists Mgmt Ianthe is the Artistic Director of One Year Lease Theater Company (OYL). Her directing has been described as “dynamic” (Charles Isherwood, The New York Times, Critic’s Pick) “theatrical witchcraft” (Scott Brown, New York Magazine), “riveting theater” (Ed Siegel, Boston’s NPR), “playfully poisonous” (Terry Byrne, Boston Globe), “a gleaming portrait of our collective contemporary existence”(Andy Propst, American Theater Web) and “a celebration of theatrical energy” (Gerald Berkowitz, The Stage).  Interested in the intersection of theater and education, Ianthe  has served as a guest director and teacher at Vassar College, Harvard University and PACE.

  • Todd Burnsed (National Sales Director) has become known as a trusted and valued partner to his clients and presenters over the past 10 years while working with Margaret Selby. As a native of Georgia, Todd grew up on the baseball field and tennis court but moved to NYC to follow his other passion on stage as a dancer to attend The Juilliard School from which he received his BFA. His performance career spans 20 years from Broadway to The Met Opera at Lincoln Center and on tour across the United States and Internationally from London to Tokyo. Todd has worked with such luminaries as Twyla Tharp, Andy Blankenbeuler, Moses Pendleton and his company MOMIX, Jessica Lang, David Parsons and Sonya Teyha among others on productions ranging from stage, television, corporate events and the development of special projects.

     

  • Brian Orr (Director of Music Projects) Brian rejoins working with Margaret after 9 years. He has over 15 years of Arts Management experience with orchestras and cultural institutions in New York, London, Pittsburgh, and Washington D.C. During his tenure at 92Y, he coordinated conferences, festivals, film shoots and concerts while cultivating partnerships with many companies including Hulu, Netflix and Showtime. Brian is a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University, where he studied History, Music Composition and Arts Management.

  • Alex Zack (Marketing and Operations Manager) brings over 9 years of entertainment pr and digital strategy experience to Selby Artists/Management. From strategically planning marketing and press campaigns for presenters to generating content posted including articles, videos, and photoshoots, Alex enjoys showcasing all of Selby Artists’ clients as exceptional artists around the globe. Out of the office, Alex is a fitness instructor committed to Penn State Football, Billy Joel karaoke, and her two Beagles, not necessarily in that order.
